
Primary amyloid myelopathy presents as a seldom seen neurological disorder characterized by the accumulation of amyloid proteins in the spinal cord. This advancing condition typically manifests with progressive paresthesia in the limbs, often accompanied by ataxia. In this case report, we present a subject with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented with an unusual clinical presentation.
The patient's initial symptoms included impaired grip strength, along accompanied by bladder dysfunction. Analysis of cerebrospinal fluid revealed elevated protein levels suggesting amyloid deposits. Neuroimaging studies demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The management focused on supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Nevertheless treatment, the patient's condition deteriorated significantly. This case underscores the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting Open Access Journal with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with unilateral weakness.
An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report
We describe a rare case of Crohn's disease in a 28-year-old female presenting with uncharacteristic symptoms. The patient initially complained symptoms of abdominal pain, which were misdiagnosed as a common gastrointestinalcondition. Further investigation revealed crohn's disease. The patient was treated with conventional treatment for Crohn's disease, including steroids. The response to treatment was favorable.
This case highlights the significance of a comprehensive assessment in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its manifestations can be diverse.
Findings
A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
